There is nothing that can affect more your production, conception rates, and health than the effects of heat stress. Several studies have shown that cows suffering from these effects produce less milk, conceive less often and have greater risk of contracting a range of diseases that can be deadly.
When a cow is suffering from heat stress its sweating and respiration rates increase to transfer more heat to the environment through evaporation, this means that while this process is happening the cow is diverting energy from the milk production process which decreases feed efficiency.
As a solution to fight heat-stress effects we offer the best Intensive Cow Cooling Systems which create a more propitious environment to decrease body temperature, through a fan based system and intermittent water sprinkling to provide the precise and adequate humidity level over the animals, commonly denominated as evaporative cooling.
The best factor combination
Air
Higher air velocities produce higher rates of heat transfer, which as a result reduce the apparent THI (Temperature Humidity Index) and the effects of heat stress. Our ventilation fans are set to the adequate and precise velocity, so they can both ventilate and cool the cows.
Water
Cows use water when panting and sweating, producing an evaporating cooling effect, but simultaneously diverting their energy. When using an intermittent water sprinkling system we can dissipate heat and produce an evaporation cooling effect by applying water directly to the cows, reducing the energy level they take to do this process.
It is difficult for a dairy cow to reach their highest production level when being in a hot environment. By combining these key factors, we set our goals in minimizing the elevation of body temperature that causes the cow to feel stress and to make physiological adjustments that could compromise milk production, or that could adversely affect body
functions.
